Managing Ulcerative Colitis (UC)

When symptoms of UC take over, you may find the need to withdraw from your normal activities. You may feel inconvenienced by complicated medicine regimens—so much so that a main focus point of your day is how many pills to take and when and where you will need to take them.

Even when you are not having symptoms such as diarrhea, abdominal cramps or rectal bleeding, you may not feel like yourself or you may lack the energy to comfortably do what you need and want to do. You may feel the need to plan outings near bathrooms because you don’t know when your next flare-up will occur.

Because there is not yet a cure for UC, the best way to deal with the challenges of UC is to work with your doctor to keep your symptoms under control.

In this section, learn more about what you may be able to do to better manage your UC and thereby, minimize symptoms.
